Recommended gourmet food and souvenirs at Nishiki Market in Kyoto....
December 26, 2024 open
Shluv kyoto (Nakagyo-ku, Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture) was opened with the hope that customers will experience the extraordinary feeling of drinking from noon onward. The name "Shluv kyoto" comes from the love of sake, and the restaurant is run by a sommelier and a sake-loving sister.
There are 20 types of sake and about 40 types of wine available, and if you tell them what you want to drink, they will recommend what they think you would like to drink.
The restaurant is housed in a renovated machiya (townhouse) where the sisters were born and raised and where their parents once ran a grocery store. In addition to counter seats where you can enjoy conversation with the owner, there are also table seats overlooking a spacious courtyard, where you can spend a peaceful moment, forgetting that you are in the middle of Kyoto.
The gizzard confit, 800 yen, is a dish in which the confit appears from underneath a beautifully arranged salad and edible flowers. The mouthwatering gizzards are a perfect accompaniment to alcoholic beverages!
Three kinds of omakase snacks for 1,000 yen. From left to right: Oyasai Shiro-Age (dressed with finely ground sesame seeds for a smooth texture), Hijiki Nimono (simmered hijiki mushrooms with cream cheese), and Seri and Kazuko Nudata (dried sardines and dried young sardines). The contents change with the seasons, and can be ordered for 500 yen each.
The menu is full of vegetable dishes, such as wine-braised hijiki with cream cheese, a gem that only the sisters, who are experts in both sake and vegetables, could have come up with. They are also planning to hold wine and sake parties, so keep your eyes peeled for more in the future.
