[2024] A tour of Kyoto's classic spots! Can't-miss pure coffee shops and retro ...
January 26, 2025 open
Kazeto Mori, owner of the retro coffee shop [Kaze to COFFEE Cafe Kazeko] in Nishijin, took a liking to this old Western-style building in a peaceful residential area and opened a new store. The store, which spreads out at the top of a narrow staircase, is impressive with its red and white bi-colored walls and flower-patterned carpet. The interior, which was originally furnished with antique chairs and lamps from overseas, creates an elegant and classic atmosphere.
Mr. Mori, who started his first store because of his love of coffee, carefully hand-drip brews his coffee, which is mainly shallow roasted. He tries to offer a variety of unique yet easy-to-use coffees, such as Geisha from Guatemala.
Waffles are the best choice on the food menu, which was designed with coffee matching in mind. In addition to the standard pistachio and berry waffles, there are also limited-time-only waffles starring seasonal fruits that go great with the shallow-roasted, fruity coffee.
