Today I would like to introduce you to a restaurant where you can enjoy a rare "nikiju" (heavy meat) dish [NIKUSHIGE HOKUSAI].
This restaurant is a meat heavy restaurant opened in Kawaramachi area. Located in the Kawaramachi area, it is accessible from several stations including Sanjo Station, Kyoto Shiyakusho-mae Station, and Kyoto Kawaramachi Station.
I had passed by the restaurant several times before and was curious about it, and finally visited the other night for dinner.
The chic, relaxed, modern Japanese atmosphere with wood as the base tone made it a space where one could enjoy a leisurely meal. Perhaps due to its location in a tourist area, there were many customers from overseas.

Since it was my first visit, I chose the restaurant's most popular dish, the "Kuroge Wagyu Beef Yakiniku Jyu" (1,848 yen).
The meat stacked with a beautiful egg yolk on top is a true delicacy, with the special sauce mixed in with the meat and rice.
The sauce was developed by a company that operates a famous yakiniku restaurant in Hyogo, and its sweet and spicy flavor is addictive.
The miso soup served with the dish contains fu in the shape of a flower, which is gorgeous to look at.
The most attractive feature of this restaurant is the attention to detail found everywhere.
The meat is "Shiwase beef" raised on our own farm and "Kobe beef", one of the three major beef breeds in Japan.
The rice is "Gihee VIII" rice, cooked in a fluffy, feathery kettle.
The use of excellent products from Kyoto's most famous restaurants, such as pickles from Daian and black shichimi from Hararyokaku, further enhances the perfection of the dish.
In addition to the materials, the bowls seemed to be made of custom-made lacquerware, specially designed for meat stacking, and the entire bowl had a glossy finish that gave it a very luxurious feel.
This meat heavy dish is hearty but can be easily eaten.
It is more generous than it looks, but thanks to the exquisite seasoning, you will finish it in no time. There were many other dishes on the menu that caught my attention, such as "Wagyu Beef Sushi" and "Sukiyaki-jyu," so I would definitely like to try another dish next time.
