KYO AMAHARE (Nakagyo-ku, Kyoto), which opened in 2023, deals in crafts from Tokyo and art that is an extension of those crafts. KYO AMAHARE was opened in a renovated warehouse in the back of the building. [The name and concept of KYO AMAHARE was created by KYO AMAHARE. Taku Tokubuchi, the tea master of Fukuoka's Man yorozu, took this idea into consideration and supervised the space, presentation, hospitality, and menu to make you feel the rain.
Inside the storehouse, a little natural light shines in, creating a relaxing space undisturbed by light or sound. In the center of the table, there is a device that allows you to feel the rain drops as water trickles down, and the ripples of the puddles are soothing.
The menu features three courses of Japanese tea and confections selected by Mr. Tokubuchi. The confections are prepared by Tomonari Kombu, the 17th generation of the long-established confectionery store Kombuya Magobei, who is active both in Japan and abroad as a pastry chef. Enjoy the one-of-a-kind collaboration of new confections that transcend the boundaries between Western and Japanese confections and tea carefully brewed in front of you.
