Pizzeria SaluTori (Higashiyama-ku, Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture), where you can enjoy excellent pizza and Italian cuisine using a wood-fired oven, is now open just a short walk from Tofukuji Station. After training at Italian restaurants in Osaka and Kyoto, he worked as a pizzaiolo (pizza chef) on Teshima Island in the Seto Inland Sea before returning to his hometown Kyoto to set up his own business. Because of its proximity to the tourist attraction [Tofukuji Temple], it has already become one of the most popular restaurants among foreign tourists.
The owner, Mr. Tanaka, says, "We use a wood-fired oven and bake our Neapolitan pizza in a short time so that you can feel the deliciousness of the dough the moment you eat it. In addition, the restaurant offers a la carte dishes such as appetizers and main courses, as well as a selection of natural Italian wines.
The somewhat relaxing space with a Japanese taste that matches the streetscape of Tofukuji is also a must-see.
