A narrowing at the experiential concept store [ANDO] in Gojo...
January 4, 2024 open
Kintsugi is a traditional Japanese technique of restoring broken pottery using gold powder and lacquer. The owner of the store, Mr. Kimura, decided that it was a waste to throw away broken or chipped pieces of pottery that had been restored through kintsugi, so he revived them as accessories. This time, he moved his store from Hyakumanben to Shijo.
In addition to purchasing Kintsugi accessories made from ceramic pieces, glass, and natural stones with a modern twist, visitors can also experience making their own accessories for 3,900 yen. In the hands-on experience, visitors can select their favorite pieces from more than 300 types of vessels, combine them with glass and stones, and create their own original items by combining them with patterns. Antique pottery pieces such as Ko-Imari and Ko-Kutani are perfect for both clothing and kimonos. Evening workshops will also be held, so you can stop by after work.
