Creative Kushikatsu Yara
A five-minute walk from Kyoto Station, the restaurant offers creative kushikatsu in a relaxed atmosphere with counter seating on the first floor and table seating on the second floor. Standing in the kitchen are manager Seiya Nagata and his younger brother Masaya, who trained for eight years at a long-established kushikatsu restaurant in Osaka.
In the evening, there are two courses: the Kyoto Course, which includes about 10 kushikatsu and the Miyako Course, which includes about 15 kushikatsu, with a variety of items depending on the season. The kushikatsu are made with high-quality oil made from a combination of pork and beef fat, and the amount of fresh bread crumbs is adjusted according to the ingredients. In addition to the course menu, the restaurant also offers a popular lunch menu that includes a rice bowl or a stacked meal with kushikatsu.
All dishes start at 6,600 yen for the Miyako course. Camembert cheese with prosciutto ham and tomato sauce goes perfectly with wine.
Pork fillet, which is a less fatty part and can be eaten lightly, is served with salt, sauce or grated ponzu to taste.
The last dish in the course is the restaurant's specialty, the "sea tiger prawn. The size of the shrimp is impressive, and the plump meat is astonishing!
