An old house facing Gojo Street was renovated. Miscellaneous goods and furniture collected at flea markets fit in well with the low-lit space. Herbs grow in the courtyard at the back of the house, and guests are enveloped by a relaxed atmosphere that makes them feel nostalgic even though they are here for the first time. The owner patissier, Mr. Urai, went to France on his own to experience firsthand the food culture of the home country, and returned to Japan after a period when he "just ate cakes I liked and kept a record of them. In his mid-30s, he began drinking alcohol to take a break from his busy work as a pastry chef. "I started going here and there because I thought standing bars were a good space where you can stop by alone and feel a comfortable distance between people and the restaurant," he says.
