The owner, Mr. Okamoto, trained at the long-established ryotei restaurant "Tankuma Kitaten Honten" and then worked at "Mangokuro" where he honed his skills in Japanese cuisine for 15 years. He then set up his own restaurant in Miyama, where he was born and raised, and opened the Japanese restaurant of his dreams. In the evenings, the restaurant serves mainly a la carte dishes with a budget of around 5,000 yen, in the hope that local people can enjoy drinking and eating in a casual atmosphere.
The charm of this restaurant is that you can enjoy cuisine like that of a high-class ryotei restaurant at a reasonable price. Taking advantage of its location 30 minutes from Wakasa Bay, the restaurant uses a variety of seasonal ingredients from the sea and Miyama, and its dishes are prepared with techniques honed over many years. One of the delights of regular customers is the rice cooked in an earthenware pot after ordering. A wide selection of sake and other alcoholic beverages are also available. Lunch is only available for kaiseki meals from 6,000 yen and up for a limited number of couples. (Reservations required).
Saba-zushi (mackerel sushi), single piece, 1,500 yen. You can also order 3 pieces for 500 yen.
Sashimi platter for two, 1,350 yen (photo shows 5-6 servings). On this day, seasonal fish such as blue-ringed squid, sea bream, kanbachi, and bonito were beautifully displayed in the sashimi. Served with sake.
Marunasu Eggplant with Shrimp Soporo-kake - 750 yen. Eggplant from Miyama, shrimp and myoga cooked in broth and topped with kuzu (arrowroot root). The taste of the broth and the prawns are in harmony.
