February 2, 2016 open
After leaving his hometown and gaining food and beverage experience at cafes, bars, and bistros in Tokyo, Maeda-san, the owner, made a U-turn to Maizuru in 2016. He is now back in Maizuru, where he can have a cup of coffee before work in the morning or talk with friends without losing track of time. This unlikely café space has already become an indispensable and popular place in Higashi Maizuru.
The counter is lined with a wide variety of baked goods such as canelés, financiers, and tarts made with seasonal fruits, as well as roll cakes and cream puffs on standby.
Seven years have passed since Maeda opened his store, believing that "it should be possible to do interesting things even in a rural area." This fall, an affiliated doughnut specialty store, Ruelle, is scheduled to open in the same row house. We will continue to keep an eye on Maeda's challenges.
