This is a delicatessen and boxed lunch store owned by Rakuzen Kakinuma, a kappo restaurant near Jingu-Marutamachi Station. The showcases along the street are lined with prepared dishes and bento boxes handmade daily in the kitchen at the back of the store.
There are about eight types of bento boxes with side dishes that cover the rice. The reasonable prices, such as the daily Kakinuma bento for 710 yen, are also attractive, attracting a steady stream of nearby office workers and local residents during lunchtime. The most popular bento is the charcoal-grilled silver salmon nori bento. The silver salmon grilled over charcoal is soft and fluffy. The bento also includes dashi maki (dashi rolls) made with "Noben," a brand-name egg from Maizuru, and hirousu (dried sardines), making it easy to enjoy the taste of kappo (Japanese cooking) cuisine.
(Front) Charcoal-grilled silver salmon nori bento 880 yen. The well-salted silver salmon goes well with rice, and there are plenty of side dishes such as dashimaki rolls with a simple and gentle flavor. (Left) Croquette with lotus root and taro: 270 yen per croquette. Inside the round croquette are moist taro and crunchy lotus root. (Right) Squid, mixed beans and tomato salad: 480 yen. Squid, mixed beans, and tomatoes are lightly seasoned with olive oil and lemon juice.
