Familiar at Kobo Market [Toji Temple]
Reigen-in is one of the sub-temples of Kennin-ji, the oldest Zen temple in Kyoto. Founded in the Ouei era (1394-1428), it has a history of being the pinnacle of Chinese literature and Gozan literature from the end of the Kamakura period to the Muromachi period. Playing a central role in the "academic aspect of Kenninji", the temple has produced many academically excellent monks such as Ikkyu-san and Imagawa Yoshimoto in their childhood.
Kanro-tei, a variety of hydrangea called "Gaku-hydrangea" and "Amacha", will be opened in 2020 as a new garden called "Kakumei-Kyukou" to commemorate the 500th anniversary of Yoshimoto Imagawa's birth. It was re-gardened. It expresses the life of Buddha from his birth to his death, and the sweet tea used at the Buddha's birthday festival is a symbol.
