``At that time, I saw a space photograph by architect Shigenori Uotani, who is known as an outstanding figure in the world of machiya renovation.I couldn't stand it anymore, so I decided to go back to Japan and experience the real thing. That's what I did.'' From there, I decided to start a new business in Kyoto, where my ancestors' graves are located and where I have visited many times, and started the Kyoto townhouse hotel brand [MAANA HOMES]. Currently, they operate three facilities including [MAANA KIYOMIZU].

[MAANA KIYOMIZU] differs from the other two accommodation facilities in that it has a shop/atelier [POJ Studio] and a dining facility [Café Kishin kyoto]. “If the suite at [MAANA KIYOMIZU] is a bedroom, POJ Studio, where you can relax like a living room, selects and produces Japanese crafts. Mr. Tsukamoto says that as he became interested in the design and interior of Kyoto-machiya houses, he became fond of traditional Japanese culture, which used to be something far away from him. ``Place matte lacquerware on the muddy walls, or arrange Shigaraki tea utensils on an antique chest of drawers.Isn't that the only thing that makes a great picture?I think it would be a waste to keep them in a box because they are important.'' In order to connect craftsmen and artists with future fans, both domestically and internationally, I would like to convey scenes that blend into modern lifestyles in the machiya space. Traditional crafts go perfectly with the machiya space, which is surrounded by natural materials.
