A Japanese sweets shop that will please those with a sweet tooth visiting Gion [Okashishi Kagijin]

Founded in 1921 as a branch of the Gion [Kagizen Ryobo], where the first generation served as a banto. In 2019, the name of the store was changed from Kagizen Ryobo, which had delivered wagashi to tea ceremonies, practices, and occasions for hospitality. Currently, the fourth generation owner, Yuichiro Ota, is carrying on the tradition while exploring flavors and designs that will please today's sweet tooth.

Confectionery Chef Kagijin no Urinko

URINKO: 216 yen per piece. With candied chestnuts, homemade black soybeans, and dried figs. Carefully packed by hand upon order, so you can enjoy the crispy skin.

Since the Zenju-an, the pagoda of Kenninji Temple, famous for its guardian boars, is located nearby, we devised a monaka in the shape of Uribo, a child of the boar. The cute little rinko (a sweet bean paste for monaka with agar added and other ingredients) is a satisfying treat even as a single piece. It will come in handy as a casual souvenir to give to acquaintances on the same day.
