Gekkoan, consisting of the west wing and the east wing, is a machiya ryokan (traditional Kyoto townhouse) that can be rented out as a single building and is tucked away in the midst of the ordinary daily life of Kyoto residents. The traditional Kyoto machiya, which is more than 100 years old, was renovated with the hope that guests will visit it as one of the highlights of Kyoto. In a space created in collaboration with craftsmen and long-established establishments that carry on Kyoto's traditions, guests can enjoy authentic Kyoto art all to themselves.
