COPPIE is an a la carte restaurant where three friendly couples serve you as if they were entertaining friends. Ryo Hashimoto, the owner of the restaurant, recommends the perfect sake for the entrée, and his wife, Chikako, offers the perfect sake. Next to Chef Daiki Ueda, who has a background in Italian cuisine, his wife, Kazari, selects the perfect wine to go with the next dish.
Newly joined by Japanese cuisine chef Kento Sugata and his wife Chiharu, a certified sake taster, the bar has become a place where diners can further enjoy the pairing of international cuisine and sake.
The Iwashi Tapenade (1,350 yen) is an original tapenade made with black olives, capers, and other ingredients, plus plums. It goes well with both sake and wine.
The menu changes daily with a variety of small, chic dishes that go great with sake, such as funazushi potato salad, tandoori style lamb, and air-cured peperon, "because we want wine lovers and sake lovers to enjoy the perfect dish for each when they come together," he says. A counter made of aged moldex and table seating that can accommodate up to nine people dining together are also on standby. Reservations are recommended as the restaurant is very popular.
