Senbon Gyokujuken, a long-established Japanese confectionery store that has been in business for over 80 years, has opened a tea house to the north of its main store. The name of the restaurant comes from the local nickname "Sendama-san".
``We want people to enjoy the process of making Japanese sweets here and taste them freshly made,'' says Maya Motoshima, the third generation owner of the shop. When you receive your order, the sight of the craftsmen finishing the namagashi at the counter is a sight to behold.
A 770 yen set of fresh sweets and matcha that changes depending on the season, and you can choose from four types of filling: yolk bean paste, strained bean paste, white koshi bean paste (pink), and crushed bean paste. Comes with dried sweets.
The shop always has about five kinds of fresh sweets on standby, as well as a variety of other lineups such as seasonal plates and straw rice cakes to pour over them, etc. Shaved ice will also be available starting in June, so be sure to check it out.
