Enjoy authentic Kyoto cuisine on the 1st floor of the kawadoko and the terrace on the 2nd floor of Kiya...
Kappo Izakaya is located a little south of Danguribashi. As you walk through the alley of eel beds, you will find a quiet and extraordinary space as if the hustle and bustle of the city is a lie. The kawadoko (riverbeds) offer a great view of the river, as there are no restaurants on either side of the river.
The owner, who has 25 years of experience in Japanese cuisine, pursues simple dishes that make the most of the original flavors of the ingredients. Evening courses start at 8,800 yen, and the omakase course for 13,200 yen includes a fresh hamo (conger eel) seared with salt to lock in its flavor. For lunch, the Shokado bento for 3,300 yen and the Okamase course for 5,500 yen are available.
