[Ikariya Shokudo] in Kiyamachi has local cuisine that even wine connoisseurs will appreciate...
As a restaurant specializing in straw roasting, the tables are equipped with roasters so that customers can enjoy Japanese beef, pork, and chicken meat, as well as oysters, scallops, turban shells, and other shellfish from Hokkaido, roasted on straw by the chefs themselves.
The ramen noodles, which are popular only for lunch on weekdays, are made with Japanese beef bone broth noodles with the unique sweetness of beef enhanced by garlic rubbed oil called "ma-yu. The noodles are covered with a luxurious combination of roast beef thigh and beef tongue chashu pork, both covered with the aroma of straw. Both the beef tongue noodles and the spicy beef tongue noodles come with a choice of straight thin or flat noodles made from Hokkaido Yumechikara whole-grain flour. The restaurant started out as a lunchtime-only menu, but the number of fans grew rapidly, and the noodles are now offered as a topping at night at izakaya (Japanese-style pubs).
