Famous cherry blossom spot related to Hideyoshi [Totaka Park]
A comprehensive park built in 1909 on the ruins of Nagahama Castle, which was abandoned in the early Edo period. The park was named "Toyo Park" in honor of Toyotomi Hideyoshi, Toyotomi's father who was the lord of Nagahama Castle. The park is dotted with cultural spots such as the Nagahama Castle History Museum, and is a popular place for citizens to relax and enjoy seasonal flowers such as plum blossoms and cherry blossoms. In particular, the scenery of approximately 600 cherry trees, mostly Someiyoshino, in bloom at once is beautiful and has been selected as one of the "100 Best Cherry Blossoms in Japan.
