What to see at [Sennyu-ji Temple] where you can pray for peace with successive emperors...
Tsuruya Yoshinobu is a long-established Kyoto confectionery shop that was founded in 1803 in Nishijin, a textile town, and has a history of over 200 years. With the company motto of "Creating Yokimono," we are always pursuing new Yokimono while preserving traditional techniques. Located in Horikawa Imadegawa, the main store is a Japanese space where you can feel the beauty of Japan, incorporating the style of Sukiya architecture into the style of traditional Kyoto townhouses.
The store on the first floor is lined with famous sweets that have been loved for a long time, such as yumochi, which has been around for about 150 years. On the second floor, there is a tea room called ``Oyasu-dokoro,'' where you can enjoy sweets made using the techniques unique to a Japanese confectionery shop while looking out at the beautiful tea garden. In a corner of the same second floor is Kayu Chaya, where you can enjoy conversation and demonstrations by artisans at the counter, and enjoy freshly made sweets.
The Miyako set is recommended for rest areas. A satisfying content where you can taste and compare three types of [Tsuruya Yoshinobu]'s famous confectionery: yumochi, Kyokanze, and tsubaratsubara. Enjoy little by little of our carefully selected popular confections.
We also recommend the seasonal awazenzai, which can only be enjoyed from October to May. It is a gem that uses millet, which takes time and effort to prepare, and you can enjoy the slightly sweet strained bean paste, the soft texture, and the nostalgic scent unique to millet.
