June 11, 2020 open
The Ace Hotel, which originated in Seattle, is making its first appearance in Japan in the Shinpukan, which was reborn in June of last year. Under the concept of "East Meets West," Kengo Kuma supervised the architectural design, and the interior design was created by LA-based Commune Design. Utilizing the former Kyoto Central Telephone Station, a famous building from the Taisho era (1912-1926), the building has many features that make it a place where people can gather and create new culture while staying close to Kyoto's history and culture. The hotel aims to be open to the community and accessible to local residents.
