Tofu cuisine and obanzai Kyoto Mamehachi Honten (Nakagyo-ku, Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture) opened with the aim of spreading Kyoto cuisine from its hometown to the rest of Japan and around the world, while respecting ingredients and cooking methods unique to Kyoto.
Once passing through the noren (curtain), you will find yourself in a relaxing space that makes use of a machiya (townhouse), where you can enjoy creative cuisine that pursues novelty while preserving tradition by using tofu and seasonal ingredients that have long been loved in Kyoto. Although Ponto-cho restaurants are often considered a hurdle to entry, we are happy to offer a casual atmosphere that welcomes first-time customers to enjoy Kyoto cuisine in a casual manner.
The signature menu item, Bubu Tofu, which uses tofu with a smooth and silky texture, is a gem of thick soybean milk boiled tofu sprinkled with colorful Bubu Arare (arare) and enjoyed like chazuke (rice with green tea). The "Bubu Tofu in a Basket" is a remarkable menu item available only during lunch time.
The second floor, which used to be a tatami room, has been redesigned with chair seating. Enjoy Kyoto cuisine in a relaxed atmosphere.
