Kano Shoujyuan Plum grove in the village of Jochousei
From June 15 (Sat.) to July 7 (Sun.), 2024, the annual harvesting experience "Plum Picking" will be held at [Sunai no Sato] (Otsu City, Shiga Prefecture).
[The site is a 63,000-tsubo (1,860-square-meter) satoyama owned by the Japanese confectionery store Kanou Shoujuan, where ume (Japanese apricot) and yuzu (citron) trees are grown for use as ingredients in Japanese confectionery. Currently, approximately 700 ume trees of nine varieties are planted, including ornamental and crossbreeding ume trees.
During the period, products such as "ume ichidoroku," which is ume pulp encased in nishikidama kan, and "harukoe," which is ume sandwiched in a hujie rice cake, will also be on offer. In addition, ume bread, gelato, and other related menu items are also available.
