[5 minutes drive from Eigenji Temple. This Japanese-style restaurant serves seasonal kaiseki meals and yudofu (tofu). [Hinoya" is the name of the restaurant, and its manager, Yoshinobu Nakagawa, is the fifteenth generation to run the restaurant.
In the beginning, he was a palace carpenter, but the restaurant became a restaurant at some point. Mr. Nakagawa trained in Kyoto and took over the restaurant 34 years ago. With his experience at an eel restaurant, he added eel to the menu, which was well received.
Eels are purchased live from Shizuoka and Mie prefectures, back-broiled, then steamed and grilled with a sweet, thick sauce. Nakagawa's specialty is to grill the eel quickly over a short flame to make it crispy on the outside and plump on the inside.
Eel with a thick sauce is also served between rice. Eel Jyu-jyu (double-over-top): 4,070 yen (with liver soup), 3,996 yen for take-out
The restaurant also has a tatami room with chair seating on standby.
