Shiga Prefectural Art Museum
An exhibition of Shunkyo Yamamoto, a painter who, along with Seiho Takeuchi, was one of the two most powerful figures in the Kyoto art world, is being held at the Shiga Prefectural Museum of Art from April 23 (Sat), 2022.
Shunkyo was also interested in photography and science and technology, and painted dynamic compositions with gorgeous colors. Shunkyo excelled at landscapes, and many of his works were selected for the Imperial Household Agency's official painting program. This exhibition, commemorating the 150th anniversary of his birth, will display approximately 80 works from the collection of the Museum of Fine Arts, Shiga, tracing his footsteps from his early years to his later years.
In addition to changing exhibits during the exhibition, there will be workshops to experience Japanese painting, biographical manga distribution, and other activities that will be enjoyable for both adults and children.
