A fresh start in Aragamiguchi, Kyoto! You can enjoy authentic burritos [QU...
QUÉ PASA is a burrito specialty restaurant located in Jingu-marutamachi. Here are some of our favorite restaurants that our office workers in Kyoto keep coming back to.
The Jingu Marutamachi area has a relaxed atmosphere. It is an area with many restaurants, but it is also home to a "burrito specialty restaurant," a rarity in Japan.
A burrito is a flour tortilla dough wrapped with rice, beans, salsa, avocado, sour cream, meat, and other ingredients. Originally a Mexican dish, burritos are widely popular in the United States, where there are food chains specializing in burritos. It is also popular as a fast food that can be eaten with one hand, and at Qué Pasa, you can enjoy a burrito just like the real thing in Kyoto.
The Marutamachi location was closed for several years due to building reasons, but reopened in 2024. The sun-drenched interior is spacious with sofas and high chair tables, allowing customers to relax and enjoy burritos at their leisure.
Many of the waitstaff and customers are from overseas, and with English flying around the restaurant, it is as if you are in a stylish foreign restaurant (orders can be placed in Japanese, of course).
QUÉ PASA's burritos are packed with ingredients, as you can see from the cross section! As you can see from the cross section, the burrito is packed with ingredients! You can choose from chicken, pork, or beef as the main ingredient, and there is a wide variety of toppings such as avocado and pak choi. A vegetarian menu is also available. The flavor of the meat, the grilled cheese, and the refreshing salsa are all mixed together, but it is all held together by the chewy tortilla dough, making this a truly exquisite dish! Once you try it, you will become addicted to the taste!
The Marutamachi branch also offers a limited menu item, the WET BURRITO. It is literally a "wet" burrito, topped with salsa, guacamole, and sour cream on top of a regular burrito. While a burrito that can be eaten quickly with one hand is great, this style is eaten with a knife and fork. Tortilla chips are also included, so you can dip them in guacamole or salsa. This is also a great menu item to share with someone.
In addition to Marutamachi, there is a "downtown branch" in Shijo-Karasuma, which is a small store with only a counter. You can choose whether you want a casual burrito in town at the downtown store or the main store for a more relaxed atmosphere.
The author has had QUÉ PASA burritos on repeat more times than I can count, and I never get tired of eating them. I recommend it to everyone around me, and 100% of those who have actually tried it have said, "This is delicious!
