Appearance of Yi Nanhe

Ponto-cho Rinanha offers Korean cuisine using the finest Japanese black beef in Kyoto's Hanamachi district.

Ponto-cho is a picturesque flower town located between the Kamo River and Kiyamachi Dori. Here is the high-class Korean restaurant Ponto-cho Lee Nanghe (Nakagyo-ku, Kyoto), which started in Daikanyama, Tokyo, in 2000.

Interior of Li Nanhe

The interior of the restaurant is a two-story Kyomachiya (Kyoto townhouse), and while the approach to the first floor is reminiscent of a Japanese-style restaurant with mainly counter seating, the space is interesting in that it blends Japanese and Korean elements with Yi Dynasty furniture placed throughout. The second floor has table seating. A large window overlooks the Kamo River.

Wagyu Bulgogi at Yi Nanhe

Shinshu Premium Wagyu Beef Special Bulgogi, 6,000 yen for two servings. Wagyu beef thighs marinated in a special sauce are chewy and tasty, making them ideal for stir-fry dishes. The live cooking process, in which the beef is grilled raw at the table with Korean vermicelli, onions, chives, and other vegetables, is also enjoyable.

After baking, wrap with sunchu or sunny lettuce and enjoy!

Although the restaurant offers a wide variety of individual dishes, we recommend the course menu, which includes the 12,000 yen "Leave it to us" Korean set meal and the 9,000 yen and up "Seasonal and Free Korean Set Meal". The main course selections include a spicy hot pot of halami shabu-shabu, wagyu bulgogi, and steak served with Korean-style dipping sauce, all using carefully selected black wagyu beef from the Kyoto meat market, and based on a recipe from the owner's mother.
Pairing is recommended with a variety of makgeolli, such as Boksundgason makgeolli, the representative raw makgeolli of Korea, as well as wine, which is surprisingly recommended. Try a different way to enjoy Korean cuisine.

Seasonal possum kimchi (2,000 yen) is Yi Nanhe's signature dish, featuring seasonal fresh fish and seasonal fruits wrapped in Chinese cabbage kimchi. At the time of the photo shoot, it included wild sea bream and mango. The word "possum" means "to wrap up happiness," and this dish was originally developed as a dish to wrap up small happiness.
