A sister restaurant of Ristorante Noro, a popular Italian restaurant in Kyoto, has opened. The chef in charge of the restaurant is Ryuji Kono, who has worked at such prestigious hotels as Aman Kyoto and the Four Seasons Hotel in Tokyo.
Mr. Kono was looking for a restaurant in town where he could serve food while feeling the reaction of customers up close, and this restaurant, which mainly has a counter, was the right choice for him.
The restaurant is named "Yo-shoku-do," which means "Western-style restaurant" in Japanese, because "we would like to introduce to the world Western-style cuisine, which is a food culture that has evolved uniquely in Japan.
The menu is basically a set meal including an appetizer, soup, and main dish for lunch, and a la carte for dinner. The restaurant also strives to make the most of Japanese ingredients, and its signature dish, a stewed hamburger steak, is served with red miso for a deep flavor.
It also goes well with sake, carefully selected by Mr. Kono, a sake lover.
