Kyoto's oldest Zen grove [Kennin-ji Temple] standing dignifiedly in Gion
[Located a 4-minute walk east of Kenninji Temple, just before the Higashiyama Yasui intersection, is the directly managed store of Miyama Yuba Yumame, which wholesales yuba to famous ryotei (Japanese-style restaurants) and other establishments. The shop is located in Gion, which is famous for its sightseeing spots, and offers yuba made from soybeans grown in Miyama.
The lunch menu, which features original dishes such as multi-layered Yuba Tofu and thickly pumped Yuba, is a coexistence of the ideas of the chef, who is a dedicated Japanese cuisine chef, and the chef, who has a background in Italian cuisine.
They propose new charms of yuba, such as combining salmon with pumped yuba and soy sauce malt, or using soy milk as a dressing for a cured ham salad. The yuba dishes, with their rich soy flavor and sweetness, are sure to please friends and family visiting Kyoto.
