Located along a quiet street near Kitano Tenmangu Shrine. The traditional sukiya-style building has a traditional atmosphere throughout, including an ajiro ceiling and a tsuboniwa garden with a tsukubai (bamboo blinds). The owner, Mr. Senda, who has studied at Kyoto's ryotei (traditional Japanese-style restaurants), serves his dishes in this sophisticated space. He offers only one course for both lunch and dinner.
All dishes are examples of the evening course for 15,000 yen (not including tax). Sea bream and light soybean in grated radish. The bright colors of the green beans, which are in season during the season of fresh greenery, are beautiful. Lentil rice cake made with fresh lotus root is served below.
The chef prepares each dish with meticulous care and attention to detail, hoping that diners will be able to experience the seasons and festivals through his cuisine. The eel rice that appears at the end of the course is made with techniques inherited from the eel restaurant run by his family in Wakasa, Fukui. The fragrant grilled eel with secret sauce is exquisite.
Unagi gohan (eel and rice). Eel from Mikawa-Ishiki, whose meat is tender even when grilled firmly, and rice cooked in an earthenware pot for each person are served at the end of the meal. Lunch is an eel bowl.
