Nison-in Temple

A temple related to Honen Shonin in Saga [Nison-in Temple]

Built by Jikaku Daishi during the Jowa era (843-848) at the request of Emperor Saga. Located at the foot of Mt. Ogura, which is also mentioned in "Hyakunin Isshu", the name of the temple is derived from the two Buddha statues, "Shaka Nyorai" and "Amida Nyorai". In the early Kamakura period, Honen lived here and preached the law, so it has a deep connection with Honen.

The approach that spreads beyond the main gate is known as a famous place for autumn leaves called "Momiji no Baba". Also, in winter, snow piles up on the branches of autumn leaves, and the snowy scenery that makes it look like flowers are blooming is also beautiful. The precincts wrapped in silver are also splendid.
