The owner, Katsuyuki Yamamoto, has a unique background as a member of a corporate club team and a volleyball player. After leaving the company, he took a leap of faith and trained as an udon chef in various locations before opening his own restaurant in 2006. The restaurant is conveniently located next to Okazaki Park to the east, with tourist attractions such as Heian Shrine, Kyoto Kyocera Museum of Art, and Kyoto Zoo in close proximity. The quaint-looking restaurant was renovated from the house of Yamamoto's grandmother, who ran an udon shop here more than 50 years ago. As of 2022, reservations can be made by phone for the same day, so it is recommended to make a reservation in advance before visiting. You can also buy souvenirs to take home.
The menu includes an attractive lineup of dishes such as tsukemen (noodles with dipping sauce), where you can enjoy the good elasticity and smoothness of thick noodles; a set of hot udon noodles with broth and tempura such as burdock root and chicken scapes; udon noodles with aromatic oil added with the richness of home-made aromatic oil; and zaru udon noodles, where you can feel the firmness of udon noodles. There are also menu items that can be ordered, so you can enjoy them at home.
