Kyo Yuzen decorating white silk fabric
Business card case that combines craftsmanship

Founded in 1931, the white fabrics of Itoko, a long-established silk manufacturer, have been used by numerous artists. This business card case was created with the hope that people will feel more familiar with the charms of kimono culture by incorporating it into their daily lives in a casual way, keeping the traditional techniques of Kyo-yuzen and changing its form for the modern age. This is a collaboration work of Mutsumi Okuno, an up-and-coming dyeing artist, applying Kyo-Yuzen dyeing to the white silk fabric of Itoko, which is used for high-quality kimonos.
Introduced here are three unique handmade items made of silk fabrics with different textures and lame threads woven into them, each dyed with a Kyoto Yuzen pattern that reflects Mr. Okuno's world view.
Silk has the property of vivid coloring when dyed, and Kyo Yuzen dyeing looks glossy and beautiful. The same gold-plating as used for kimono is also applied to this product, which is the culmination of professional craftsmanship.
