Kyoto Handy-do is known for its fine art printing. Since its establishment in the Meiji period (1868-1912), the company has established a photo studio and collotype studio for in-house production of picture postcards, and has produced museum goods and stationery of Japanese art.
The "Rosanjin GONOMI" series letter sets are also printed using the "collotype" printing method, a printing technique that has been handed down by Convenience Store for over a century. The paintings are selected from "Rosanjin's Self-Selected Works" published in 1933.
Although collotype is capable of expressing intricate details close to the real thing, the key point is that it is printed in monochromatic colors that are purposely muted, since it is letterhead and envelopes for writing letters. This letter set with its casual yet tasteful patterns is recommended for writing a small greeting or a word of thanks.
