From January 21 (Tuesday) to March 30 (Sunday), 2025, "Historical Painting Paradise" will be held at the Kyoto Prefectural Impression Domoto Museum of Art.
The exhibition features representative works by Domoto Impression (1891-1975), a highly acclaimed painter of numerous historical paintings throughout his life, from his early years to his later years, featuring historical figures. The exhibition features a lineup of familiar figures from textbooks, such as Prince Shotoku, Michizane Sugawara, Koetsu Hon'ami, and Emperor Meiji, and is a must-see for history buffs. Also on display at this year's exhibition are special paintings of deities dedicated to shrines in Kyoto. From works based on deep research and investigation to original abstract expressions, visitors can feel the overflowing talent of Impression Domoto.
