Introducing local pottery! Tea Ceremony Museum, "Yakimono Tour 3 -Wakayama, Nara, Mie-" / Tea Ceremony Museum

Tuesday, January 7, 2025 - Sunday, March 30, 2025
9:30-16:30 (last admission/16:00)
Tea Ceremony Museum

From January 7 (Tue) to March 30 (Sun), 2025, "Yakimono Tour 3 - Wakayama, Nara, and Mie" will be held at the [Tea Ceremony Museum] in Nishijin, Kyoto.
Since the Middle Ages, numerous ceramic kilns have sprung up in various parts of Japan, ranging from those that developed into Japan's representative ceramic centers to small kilns built during the rush to open kilns in the late modern period. However, only a few of these kilns are well known to the general public today. Therefore, the Chado Shiryokan (Tea Ceremony Museum) has started a series of exhibitions to introduce "local ceramics," focusing on ceramics produced in the Kinki region from the Middle Ages to the Early Modern Period. This third exhibition features 16 pottery kilns from Wakayama, Nara, and Mie, and introduces the characteristics and charm of each kiln along with its historical background.
Take advantage of this opportunity to see all of the local yakimono in one place.
