The "New Interpretation of The Tale of Genji" Reading Theater 2024 will be held on October 12 (Sat.) and 13 (Sun.), 2024 [at Hyakumanben Chionji Temple].
This is a reading play with an original script by a talented scriptwriter who has written many scripts for popular TV dramas and movies. The play depicts the deep interaction between Hikaru Genji and women in accordance with the social system of the time, and also focuses on the changes in women's feelings toward him, thereby realistically portraying today's constricted society. The overall director is Ryo Ono, a well-known actor in the TV drama "Partners," and the first day's Hikarugenji will be played by Takuya Ishibashi, the leader of "Tokyo Rickshaw," a musical unit of jinrikisha (rickshaw drivers) who run over rickshaws in Asakusa.
