In April 2025, Kyoto Tachibana University will establish a new major in Sports Management in the Department of Business Administration in the Faculty of Business Administration. To commemorate the opening, Daisuke Matsui, a former Japanese national soccer player and native of Yamashina-ku, Kyoto, will give a special lecture entitled "Sports Management Studies with Top Athletes" at Kyoto Tachibana University on July 21 (Sun.).

In March 2021, construction of Academic Links was completed on the new main campus pathway as a base for promoting "connection" and "practice" among students, faculty, staff, and other people.

At the lecture, visitors will be able to listen to the challenges faced by Matsui, a top athlete who has long been active on the world stage, as well as a discussion on the social value and future of sports with Hiroyuki Ohno, a professor at the School of Business Administration.

Daisuke Matsui, former member of Japan's national soccer team

Born on May 11, 1981 in Yamashina-ku, Kyoto, Japan, he is a former professional soccer player. After graduating from Kyoto Municipal Oyake Elementary School, Oyake Junior High School, Fujimori Junior High School, and Kagoshima Jitsugyo High School, he became a professional soccer player with his hometown club Kyoto Sanga F.C.. Since then, he has played for nine clubs in five foreign countries (France, Russia, Bulgaria, Poland, and Vietnam). In 2021, he made headlines when he tried his hand at playing both professional soccer and professional futsal. In February 2024, he announced his retirement. Since his retirement, he has been active as a coach at Yokohama FC Academy Soccer School, a role model coach at Urawa Red Diamonds Academy, an ambassador of Futsal F-League, and a commentator.
