Iittala Exhibition: The Sparkle of Finnish Glass" is being held until March 29 (Fri.) at the Museum of Art "Eki" KYOTO, which is attached to the JR Kyoto Station Building.
Iittala, a leading Finnish lifestyle brand, started out as a glass factory established in 1881 in the village of Iittala in southern Finland, and has since worked with architects and designers such as Alvar Aalto and Kai Frank, who led the development of Finnish design. Their products, based on their philosophy of providing beauty and functionality to everyone, continue to be loved around the world.
Focusing on classic and modern design glass from the mid-20th century, which symbolizes Iittala's history, the exhibition also includes ceramics and porcelain, videos and installations, and explores the technology, philosophy and design aesthetics of the company.
