The Kameoka Festival is popularly known as the Gion Festival of Tamba. It is an annual autumn festival held in October and is registered as an Intangible folk cultural property of Kyoto Prefecture and Kameoka City.
The Kameoka Matsuri Yamaboko Event is held over three days from Yoiyama on October 23 to the main festival on October 25, and the excitement of the festival reaches its climax. The main festival on the 25th will begin in the morning with a procession of 11 floats decorated with gorgeous ornaments through the castle town. This year, for the first time in four years, the Yamaboko floats will be assembled and the kuji-ai ceremony will be held at Taboro-cho.
