Founded in 806 (Daidōgen) during the early Heian period (794-1185) by priest Enchin, the founder of Kiyomizu-dera Temple, Yanggokudera Temple will be open to the public for the first time in 2024 for a light-up event. In addition to the Jodoen Garden, a cultural asset designated by Kyoto Prefecture, the Kamishoin and Okuno-in corridors will be open to the public. Visitors can enjoy a fantastic time under the beautiful lights created by lighting designer Yuki Ogawa.
