Saturday, June 10, 2023 - Monday, July 17, 2023
10:00-17:00 (Last admission/16:30)
Izumiya Hakukokan
Until July 17, 2023 (Mon., national holiday), "Pictures of Songs and Stories: The Elegant World of Yamato-e" is being held at the Izumiya Hakkokan.
Since ancient times, stories that have been told and read have had a deep relationship with pictures. Waka poems, too, have been expressed in the form of paintings of 31 characters, and the excitement of being touched by these paintings has led to the composition of new waka poems, thus enhancing each other's expression. This exhibition features carefully selected picture scrolls, folding screens, and fan masks from the museum's Sumitomo Collection that are in the style of "Yamato-e," which was pursued by painters in pursuit of the nobility's sense of beauty.
