The "Zen Temple Traditions II: Women and Buddhism" is being held at the Shokokuji Jotenkaku Art Museum until July 16, 2023 (Sun.).
In commemoration of the 800th anniversary of the birth of Mugei Nyodai Nun (1223-1298), a nun who succeeded to the Dharma of Muhaku Sogen, the exhibition features items related to ordained princesses such as Teruzan Motoyo Nun, Tokuigan Riho Nun, and Itsuigan Rishu Nun. The exhibition explores the relationship between women and Buddhism from the time of Mugeanyodani to the early modern period through temple treasures inherited from the Shokokuji School of temples.
