Wednesday, February 1, 2023 - Sunday, March 26, 2023
9:00-16:00 (last admission at 15:45)
Kitano-Tenmangu Shrine, Treasure Hall
A special spring exhibition is being held at the Treasure Hall of Kitano Tenmangu Shrine until March 26, 2023 (Sun.).
This exhibition will unveil paintings from the treasures housed in the Treasure Hall, including "Red and White Plum Blossoms" by Takeuchi Seiho, and other paintings designed to bring in the New Year. In addition, in honor of this year's historical drama, "What to do about Ieyasu," a collection of treasures related to Toyotomi Hideyoshi, Hideyori, and the Tokugawa family will be on display.
The numerous votive offerings suggest that Kitano-Tenmangu Shrine was revered as a god of martial arts, a god of learning, and a protector of the nation. The special exhibition, which opens with the opening of the ume garden on the grounds of the shrine, is sure to bring out the fragrance of the blooming ume trees.
