Saga Arashiyama Bunkakan, Fukuda Art Museum
From October 22, 2022 (Saturday), the Saga Arashiyama Bunkakan and the Fukuda Art Museum will jointly hold an exhibition focusing on Matsuo Basho, Yosa Buson, and Ito Jakuchu, three artists who made great achievements in the Edo period.
Matsuo Basho is said to have been highly interested in painting as well as haikai. Matsuo Basho's "Wild Travels", which has been missing for a long time, has been rediscovered for the first time in half a century and has become a topic of conversation. The exhibition traces the footsteps of these three artists who left their mark on Edo culture, along with Buson, who established a new genre of haiga, and Jakuchu, who was the same age as Buson.
