Izumiya Hakukokan
From November 3, 2022 (Thursday/holiday), an exhibition focusing on landscape paintings by Japanese painter Oukoku Konoshima will be held at [Izumiya Hakukokan].
Kijima Sakuratani has been called the "last Shijo school" and has been reevaluated in recent years as a representative of the modern Kyoto art world. While he is famous for his animal paintings, he has actually been traveling around the country painting landscape paintings since his youth. From an early age, Sakuratani became familiar with Chinese poetry and old Japanese and Chinese paintings, and at the same time incorporated the spatial expression of Western paintings.
Along with landscape sketches and classical paintings that Sakuratani himself collected, we will explore the landscape of the heart that has continued to be at the root while overlooking the colorful landscape paintings of his life. The contents change dramatically during the exhibition, so you can enjoy it over and over again.
