Kyoto Shibori Kogei Kan
An exhibition of 20 tie-dyed reproductions of famous paintings from around the world is being held at the Kyoto Shibori Kogei Kan near Nijo Castle until August 31, 2022 (Wednesday).
This art museum, which until now has mainly exhibited works on the theme of Japanese culture, unveils the next generation of tie-dyeing craftsmanship that blends "Japanese" techniques with "Western" design. World-famous paintings such as the giant tie-dye mural of Da Vinci's "The Last Supper," "Mona Lisa," and Van Gogh's "Sunflowers" are created using the techniques of Kyoto Kanoko Shibori. Rediscover the charm of Japan's oldest dyeing technique through works that express sophisticated dyeing and a unique three-dimensionality.
