Animation director Sunao Katabuchi's latest work, "Tsurubami-iro no Nagiko-tachi" (The Tsurubami-colored Nagiko Children). This time, "The Road Leading to Tsurubami Iro no Nagiko Tachi" will be held, a screening project that explores the themes and creative origins connected to this film and each of Katabuchi's previous works.
The location is the mini-theater [Demachi-za] in Kyoto, where the new films are set, and "Princess Arete" (2001), "My My New Child and the Magic of a Thousand Years" (2009), and "In (Several More) Corner of the World" (2019) will each be screened sequentially for one week only, along with the pilot film of "Tsurubamiiro no Nagakotachi". The film will be screened.
Six years in the planning stages, Katabuchi's fifth feature film, "Tsurubami-iro no Nagiko-tachi" is set in Kyoto during the Heian period (794-1185), the era in which "The Pillow Book" was written, and depicts the life of Sei Shonagon. Like Katabuchi's previous works, this film was produced based on thorough research and a vast amount of research content, and is connected to each of the director's works. Before we see the full picture of the new film, including the origin of "Tsurubami Iro no Nagiko Tachi" and "Everyday Life" in "Abnormal," let us look back at the fresh scenery of each of Katabuchi's three films and explore the path leading to "Tsurubami Iro no Nagiko Tachi.
