A special exhibition commemorating the 100th anniversary of the birth of Motoji Domoto, who began his career as a painter after the war following his harsh experiences, including exposure to the atomic bomb in Hiroshima, is being held at the Kyoto Prefectural Museum of Impressionism Domoto from April 15 (Sat) to May 31 (Wed), 2023.
In addition to representative works from the postwar period, the exhibition also features works by his seniors, including Ryonosuke Shimomura, a classmate from his student days, and Tsuyoshi Taguchi, who was an up-and-coming painter in the 1930s. The exhibition looks back on Motoki Domoto's painting career during and after the war.
